AAA visits Annual Meeting German National Group

AAA visits Annual Meeting German National Group

On Friday October 18 and Saturday October 19 the Association of Attendees and Alumni of The Hague Academy of International Law (hereinafter the ‘AAA’ or the ‘Association’) visited the Annual Meeting of the German National Group in Paris.  The board of the German National Group invited the Association for a two days conference including their annual meeting at the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

On Friday we met over lunch at the OECD building, followed by an afternoon filled with lectures about the work of the OECD.  For example lectures about the role of the OECD in information security and piracy, and the role of the OECD in combatting tax havens. We ended the day with a tour around the ‘Tour Eiffel’ and a dinner.

On Saturday the annual meeting of the German national group took place at the building of the German Representatives Office to the OECD. During this meeting we re-elected the board of the German national group and we discussed the future of national groups of the AAA. In the afternoon an excursion was planned to the ‘Musée Marmottan’ and in the evening we were all invited for an informal dinner at Mr. Sonnenhol’s house. Mr. Sonnenhol is a member of the permanent mission of the Federal Republic of Germany to the OECD and was the host of the conference.

Overall it was an interesting and inspiring visit to Paris. A good start for a renewed relationship between the German national group and the Association.
